Today I shot Squishers McSquishers (aka Bianca) and her parents for their Christmas card. She’s just so adorable, I can’t imagine anyone taking a bad picture of her.
The wonderful thing about Barcelona was the insane amount of Art Nouveau gems sewn into the little details all around the city. I noticed a water fountain statue of four women as I was walking back from the seaside. Just beautiful.
I tried to continue my street photography of Barcelona natives. Caught these construction workers (I think..the church they’re in front of was undergoing renovation) on their lunch break. Not the most flattering capture for the guy on the left, but it’s a lesson in timing for me.
I am not alone in my fascination of windows and building facades. Barcelona was like crack for someone with such a fascination. The city is one apartment building after another, and every balcony had its own unique character, yet still contributed to the larger, living energy of the city. Layers of plants graced nearly all balconies, along with tiny chairs and cloth or bamboo outdoor shades. I’ll be editing and posting more of the window/balcony series, but for now enjoy this beautiful art nouveau facade. Oh to be that gentleman, living inside an amazing building, giving life and memory to art.
MailLady, el Gotic, Barcelona
It took me a long time to realize what the yellow Correos bags were. If this is truly the mail lady, I am so glad they don’t have uniforms. In my limited exposure to Barcelona, I can say that this laid-back approach to their mail system is indicative of their approach to a lot of things. Why make a fuss.
Mister Blue Beard | watercolor & pen
Finally got around to doing a portrait of me and Ricardo! I’m exploring more with watercolors…eventually I’d like to incorporate collaging and watercolor.
